Sanchez from Market to Duboce: 8/3 - 8/21

Crews will be installing both 8” and 24” water pipelines between Henry and Duboce over a three week period.

The purpose of this work is to replace water lines that are 75 to 100 years old and will fail. This is part of the Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) that is upgrading our water delivery system in the City and throughout our service area in four Bay Area counties.

The crew will complete the potholing this week. Parking on north and south sides of Duboce will continue to be impacted.

Work hours: 8:00 am—5:00 pm
The crews have been instructed to make every effort to minimize noise and disruption. Construction noise with back-up alarms and excavating equipment can be expected.

The contractor has attempted to get access to the garage on the corner of Market and Sanchez for staging but the owner will not allow it because of other constraints on the property. Thus, the contractor will need to store equipment and pipe along the street during this period.

We appreciate your support and welcome your suggestions. Plan to attend our Project Coffee at Duboce Park Café on August 7 between 8:30 and 9:30 am.

Look for the August update in your mail next week.

Overflow Parking at Everett School

Neighborhood Parking at Everett School has been activated. The project has been allotted 20 spaces available 24 hours, 7 days a week through Friday, August 14. Later next week, we will speak with the School District regarding the parking tenant, City College, to determine future obligations.

Going forward, Maureen Barry, will be your point of contact. She lives on Church Street and will be readily available along with other staff –that she will direct—to handle your questions or concerns until this project is completed. You can reach Maureen at 554-3297 in the office or by CELL at 350-4929. Let us know how it goes.

Parking around 17th & Sanchez

The 'jack and bore' activities, tunneling under the intersection at 17th and Sanchez, will require open pits on both sides of 17th. Also, traffic regulations, require that the contractor restrict parking 24 hours --3 to 4 spaces on each side of 17th to provide the legally required lane width for traffic. SFPUC is attempting to confirm alternate parking with the school district.

There is no other place for the heavy equipment to be stored. This equipment is too wide for the spaces we have investigated for contractor overflow. Please bear with us as this final work south of Market is accomplished.

Approximately 25 feet of parking on north and south sides of Duboce will be impacted. Construction noise can be expected.

The crews have been instructed to make every effort to minimize noise and disruption. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Night Work --Tonight

SFPUC water operations will make service connections from the new water main to your residences and businesses again tonight.

All attempts were made to facilitate the water main connections during normal working hours (as in all other cases), but a daycare function until 7pm and another community meeting until 10pm, required this after hours work last night. The connection on west bound side of the street could not be scheduled to coincide with the work performed last night, due to the need to re-route traffic around the job site.

The crew does not anticipate that tonight’s work will continue as long as last evening’s activities. Crews have been instructed to make every effort to minimize noise and disruption. Again, we apologize for this inconvenience.

Location: Sanchez between 16th and 17th

Meet us for Coffee

Come join us for a Neighborhood Coffee on Friday, July 10 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the H Café, 3801 17th Street @Sanchez. Meet the project team and ask questions or give us your comments and suggestions. We’ll host this Neighborhood Coffee the second and fourth Fridays in July and August.

No construction activity this Friday due to the Holiday. The contractor has consolidated equipment and pipe, removed unnecessary “no parking” signs” and cleaned the streets. Service connections and testing will resume on 19th Street from Noe to Sanchez next week through the end of the month. Work on Sanchez between 18th to Market will also continue after the holiday.
