Join Us For One Last Coffee


The water mains replacement project in the Duboce Triangle and Lower Haight areas is now completed. We want to thank you for your patience and cooperation during construction. Please join us on Friday, January 15 for one last cup of coffee and other treats at the Duboce Park Café. We will be there at 8:00 am and looking forward to seeing you.

Paving is complete on Sanchez and Steiner

Paving is now complete on Sanchez and Steiner streets. Our contractor has begun removing equipment on Sanchez Street. Our water operations crew continues to perform tests on Steiner Street near Duboce Park to make sure we provide safe, high quality drinking water.

We expect to complete this project in January 2010. Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout construction.

Weekly Construction Updates

Our contractor will start additional asphalt paving of Sanchez and Steiner streets between 14th and Haight next Monday, December 14 through Wednesday, December 16. Work hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Parking will be restricted on both sides of Sanchez Street and the west side of Steiner Street between Duboce and Haight. Once completed, the contractor will begin consolidating equipment on Herman and removing steel plates on Sanchez.

Project Updates

The project is nearing completion. Our Water Operation crew is currently performing various tests at Steiner Street near Duboce Park, these test will ensure that we provide the best quality drinking water. When the tests are done, final connections to water pipes will be made, we expect to finish the connections in two weeks. The contractor is working on removing equipment, pipe and steel plates from Sanchez Street.

Main Break on Waller and Steiner Repaired

Vibrations from road paving in the middle intersection of Waller and Steiner caused an old 2" air valve to break from an existing 16" water pipe around 1:20 pm Wednesday, Nov. 25. Our water operations crew responded immediately and the repair was done by 2:30 pm.

Crew will continue street restoration at the intersection of Waller and Steiner and is expected to be completed today.

Construction will continue on the north side of Duboce Street at the intersections of Sanchez and Steiner this Sat. 11/21 and Sun. 11/22. Work hour 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (see last posting for detail information).

Weekend Work

Weekend Work Scheduled for
Sat & Sun 11/14 – 11/15 and
Sat & Sun 11/21 – 11/22


What: The SFPUC is working to expedite the completion of the Noe Valley Transmission Main Replacement Project and has scheduled work on the weekends noted above. Work will begin on the north side of Duboce Street at the intersections of Sanchez and Steiner.

Work Hours: Construction starts at 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and may extend if necessary.

Traffic: One lane of traffic will remain open and a traffic control will be onsite to direct traffic.

Muni N Judah line: Please check with Muni for update as the schedule for the line will be impacted and allow additional travel time.

Construction Noise: Contractor will make efforts to minimize construction noise.

Parking: Parking will be restricted near the intersections. Please plan your parking accordingly.

Street Restoration Updates


Street restoration on Sanchez Street from Market to about 200 feet south of Duboce has been rescheduled to start on Monday, November 23 and will last no more than 3 days.


To expedite the completion of this project, weekend work is scheduled for Nov. 14, & 15, and Nov. 21 & 22. Construction activity will take place on the north side of Duboce near Sanchez St. We will provide information on weekend construction hours next week.

Construction Update


Contractor will finish up work at the southeast intersection of Sanchez and Duboce (directly across from the Duboce Park Café) next week and begin to remove construction equipment from Sanchez Street south of Duboce. Final street paving on Sanchez Street from Market to about 200 feet south of Duboce is scheduled to start on November 9.

To expedite this project weekend work has been scheduled for Nov. 14, & 15, and Nov. 21 &22. Construction activity will take place on the north side of Duboce near Sanchez St.. We will provide updates on the schedule of weekend construction activity.

SFPUC water operations will be connecting the new water main to the city water system. This will require temporary interruption of your water service during the dates and hours listed above. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience.

This activity is being conducted overnight to minimize disruption to businesses in the area.
If you have any specific health or water needs, please contact us immediately 554-3244. We will coordinate between our water operations crews and our Public Health department representative.

Construction noise can be expected for residents who live near Sanchez at 15th and Sanchez at Henry Streets on 10/27 and Sanchez at 14th and 166 Sanchez on 10/28. We have instructed the crews to minimize disruption.

Construction Update - Duboce Triangle and Lower Haight


Steiner from Duboce to Haight
Crew will begin installing 24-inch transmission main on Steiner from Duboce to Waller as soon as next week and then continue on Steiner from Waller to Haight. This phase of the work is expected to complete in 3 weeks. During construction, one lane of traffic will remain open for both cars and bikes. We have worked with the Department of Parking and Traffic on alternative routes and encourage bikers to use alternatives to avoid accidents.

Sanchez from Market to Duboce
City water operations crew will start working on pressure testing and making service connections to home and businesses. Traffic will be detoured. Please allow additional time for traffic. This phase of work is expected to be completed in 3 weeks.

Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Parking: We will make every efforts to minimize parking impact. If you don’t see construction by noon, you are allowed to park. Duration:The project is anticipated to complete before Thanksgiving holiday.

Street restoration work on Noe between 19th and 20th is nearing completion

Parking should be available on Noe Street between 19th and 20th streets as early as this weekend. We need a couple more weeks to complete work on Sanchez, and hope to reopen all parking and traffic lanes on both streets by the end of this month. Parking impacts will be kept to a minimum throughout this work. Thanks for your patience as we work to repair our water system.

Street Restoration - Sanchez between 18th & 19th


Street restoration work underway, to
continue through Friday, September 25 for the entire block


 What: Demolition on Sanchez Street from 18th to Hancock has begun. Hancock to 19th is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8. This work includes sawcutting, removing of old concrete and pouring of new concrete.

 Garage: To cure the concrete surface and maintain a safe driveway, access to your garage will be restricted up to 5 days.

 Traffic: Contractor will proceed uphill from 18th Street working in sections. Traffic will be rerouted during construction. Please allow additional time.

 Parking: Contractors are working only one side of the street at a time to minimize parking impact.


We apologize for the inconvenience and are doing everything we can to minimize the impact to our neighbors. Your cooperation in moving your vehicles from your garage will help us finish our work as quickly as possible.

 What: Street restoration with concrete. Duration: three to four weeks.

 Traffic: Contractor will proceed uphill from 19th Street working in sections. Traffic will be rerouted during construction. Please allow additional time.

 Garage: To make sure the concrete cures, access to your garage may be restricted for up to 72 hours, please plan accordingly.

Water Service Interruption in Six Block Area

SFPUC water operations will be connecting the new water main to our distribution system between midnight – am Tuesday morning. This will require interruption of your water service temporarily during the hours listed above. Construction noise can be expected for residents live near Noe and 19th street. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience. Other blocks that will be affected:

• 18th street from Noe to Castro
• Hartford from 19th to 18th
• 19th street from Noe to Castro
• Noe from 19th to Ford

This activity is being conducted overnight to minimize disruption. Following the shut-down, we recommend you run cold water for a few minutes as sometimes the water appears cloudy or discolored due to air bubbles in your water. You may use this water for your plants or gardens.

Contractor is consolidating materials and equipment at all locations to maximize neighborhood parking.

The courtesy parking at Everett School ends 11:00 pm today, 8/14. We have removed the trailer from the staging area adjacent to the school to accommodate more parking.
