It would be really nice if your construction crew refrained from directing cyclists to break the law and use the sidewalk on Steiner to avoid the construction. This is yet another lawsuit against the City waiting to happen, not to mention scaring people out of their wits at the junction with Waller.
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Nightingale,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. Prior to construction on Steiner Street, we worked with the Department of Parking and Traffic to create alternative bike routes and place detour signs to encourage bicyclists to avoid Steiner Street during construction. This helps ensure the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers. Sidewalks should be available to pedestrians at all times during construction. We have reminded our contractor to encourage bicyclists to observe the temporary detour so that we can proceed with construction and maintain safety at the site.
